Interview | Faydee: “The voice is important but it doesn’t make a star…”
Faydee, welcome to tralala.gr! We want to know what are you working on lately?
I’m currently touring a few countries in Europe including Greece, which was amazing.
Every song that you release becomes a hit not only in Greece but also in other European countries. How does that make you feel?
It’s the most rewarding feeling to know that my hard work is paying off. My fans are incredible, so I owe it all to them.
What do you think can make you special in your style of music that you chose to follow?
Well my style comes from honesty through my music. My records need to portray emotion, and I always try to write music that people can connect with.
Why did you become a singer?
It was the first thing I thought about when I woke up in the morning and the last thing that was on my mind before I went to bed. I enjoyed taking top 40 songs and putting my own spin to them at first and then I began writing my own original songs as an escape. It was like therapy for me.
I would like you to tell me who well-known singer do you admire for his career? For what reasons? I admire two artists right now, Macklemore, because like myself and my team, we have done it independently and succeeded and Enrique Iglesias because I’ve always loved his style and the fact that he incorporates his culture and ethnicity in his music.
What is your biggest inspiration in composing a song?
Life, I write things when I’m triggered by the good and bad things that happened to me. I like to write music that people can relate to and find themselves in, because growing up that’s what I enjoyed the most when listening to my favourite artist.
Erotic element and beautiful women are dominant in your video clips. Do you think that a video clip is necessary for a song to make success?
I don’t think it’s necessary, it does make for good entertainment. I have a great team that helps come up with concepts that fit the song perfectly. For me, it does come down to the connection between the video and the song, I like a video that tells a story.
I know that, apart from singer, you are both composer and producer. What do you love the most? Singing, composing or producing?
It’s hard to choose because they all are hand in hand in making a great record. But if I had to choose it would be song writing because It’s always been my escape.
What is your favorite song of yours?
One of my favourites will forever be “Laugh Till You Cry” because it was the beginning of a big chapter in my career and the song came so natural to me.
What do you think about the new song shows, like “The Voice”, where judges listen only to the participants’ voice? According to your opinion, is the voice what makes an artist special?
The voice is important but it doesn’t make a star in my opinion. It comes down to the drive, the right marketing and the talent ofcourse.
You have participated in various festivals along with a-names of music industry. Is there anyone you would like to cooperate with?
I would love to work with Ellie Goulding. That would be a dream.
As you may know, your songs are dominant in Greek radios and clubs. Should your fans wait for a concert in Greece?
I just finished my show at dream city a few days ago, it was amazing and I will hopefully be back in the summer.
Do you have any career plans for the future? Should we wait for a new album?
Yes, I have some new music coming out soon and will continue to tour around the globe. I’m hoping to finish up my album later in the year.
