Interview | Lariss: « I love Greek people, they are always with a smile on their face»

We had the pleasure to meet Lariss and chat with her for a while and we immediately distinguished her genuine passion for music and her eagerness to make her next professional steps. Perhaps the most interesting thing about our discussion was that she communicated an honest appreciation for Greece and its audience, who embraced her song right away and made it No1.

Welcome to tralala.gr Lariss! It is an honor for us to have you here. I am going to start by asking you, what have you been working on lately?

Hello, I’m happy to get in touch with you. Well, I have a busy schedule, as you know I just released my new single “Epana” and I’m running between TV shows and studio.

Your name rose to fame in our country the past few months due to your first single “Dale Papi” which quickly became a smash hit both on the radio stations and the internet. Tell us some things about this song and the story behind it!

After a while working in the studio, I knew that my time has come. One day, I started to sing the chorus of “Dale Papi” out of nowhere. Surprised by my own inspiration, I locked myself again in the studio, where I started to produce the single alongside Shift and David Ciente, who also produced other famous hits in Romania.

Have you ever imagined of having a song of yours breaking the borders of your country and becoming successful in other regions too? What are your thoughts and feelings now that you witnessed it happening?

Since I was a child I had deep aspirations. As you can see, I’m impressed by all the good feedback I have received for my first single, “Dale Papi”. I feel appreciated and overwhelmed at the same time.
 
If you had to categorize your music, what genre would it best fit?

It’s difficult to categorize, because I love more styles like pop, soul, reggae, RnB and so on. Every style attracts me in a different way, but to answer your question I think that my style is pop mixed with trap, reggae, tribal influences and a little bit of soul.
 
Thinking back to early childhood, what was your first experience with music like? And what made you realize that you want to pursue a career in music?

Like you know, everything starts with baby steps. My first official contact with music started at the age of seven when I began to take violin lessons at the National Art College in my city. Then I studied the piano and at the age of 15, I began to learn more and more about the theory of classical music. During the years 2009-2013 I studied at the National Music University in Bucharest, at the Jazz and Pop music section. My past is full of different music lessons, which brought me here to the person I am.

 
Have you ever been to Greece? What is your opinion about our country and its people?

Yes, I’ve just came back from Zakynthos few weeks ago. Also I have been to Corfu. I was amazed by the beautiful sights, it was like all the pictures I have seen on the Internet came to life. I love Greek people, they are always with a smile on their face.
 
Have you ever listened to greek music? Do you know any greek artists?

Greek music is very famous in Romania, songs like “Sagapao” of Giorgos Alkaios and “Dinata” of Antique are hits. Antonis Remos is also a singer from Greece that I admire.
 
You are quite new to the music industry. What are you biggest fears about this job? And what do you hope to accomplish in a few years from now?

I don’t want to have fears, I want to stay true to my feelings and try not to break my principles. In the future I hope to sing a lot, in many countries and on big stages.
 
Your second single “Epana” was released only a few days ago. Describe us your new song and your expectations from it.

Yay! My second single is out and I’m so excited because with this new video I show a different side of myself, a wild one, but still me. Even if “Epana” is just a interjection, I really hope that this single will be like an invitation to party and good vibes.

What are you summer plans? Are there any lives or concerts that you have booked?

Well, my job is to compose, prepare my shows and to produce music. My booking agent knows all the plans, but I hope that I will perform on big stages all over the world.
