Dj Polique welcome to tralala.gr! It is our honor to have you here. What have you been up to lately?
Hello Tralala.gr! Right now I’m still on tour in Greece. Before the tour, I was working in the studio on some new songs and projects. Most of the time I’m trying to be in the studio and create new music.
Your latest hit “Don’t wanna go home” holds a huge airplay on the Greek Radio Stations and we would like to know more about you. Was it something you were expecting from the song?
Yeah it’s great that the song got so much Airplay in Greece. I really appreciate it and it was a big surprise for me when I heard that. When I produced the song in Germany, I just liked it and had no expectations of it at all. Νow it has become such a big hit, I am so happy about it!
As we’ve read about you, you have Greek roots but you live and work in Germany. Have you noticed any differences between the German and the Greek audience?
Yes, I was born in Germany and I am still living there, close to the city of Nuremberg. I’m half Polish and half Greek, that’s why I call myself Polique. So far I haven’t noticed any differences between the audiences in Germany and in Greece. I think it always depends on how you approach the people, no matter where you are! If people like your style and the songs you play, they will party. On my first dates of the Greek tour, I have seen people having fun and forgetting their sorrows for some time.
You describe yourself as an urban Dj, but how would you define your music?
Mainly I’m an Urban DJ, so I am spinning Hip Hop & R&B. But within that style I am going into different directions. I’m always reacting with the crowd, it sometimes guides the direction the set goes. I want the people to have a good time, this is the reason why I am behind the decks. This is really important to me, so my sets are slightly different from gig to gig.
Worldwide famous artists like Tyga, Sean Kingston and Snoop Dogg have collaborated with you. How was it and what advice did they give you? Are there any other artists that you would like to work with in the future?
It was great to work together with such fantastic artists. It meant a lot to me and it was a big inspiration. Right now we are planning to release a Greek Remix for “Don’t wanna go home”. That would make me really proud. So therefore I’m looking to work with a Greek Artist. I hope I could work someday together with Drake, he is one of my favorite artists right now.
Which are your personal musical influences?
For sure Soul music from the 70s and 80s, Funk Music, 90s Hip Hop and R&B Music.
You recently began your tour. In your opinion, what’s the most fascinating thing about touring?
Being on tour gives you such a great feeling. You meet your fans from other countries, you learn about their cultures and see a lot of great places. The most amazing thing is to visit different countries that you have never been to before and hear your song on the radio!
Four Greek Cities were among your tour’s stations. Describe us the vibes you got in front of the Greek audience. Is there a possibility that you come back for some more lives soon?
The Vibe was great. They really love “Don’t wanna go home” and they made me feel like they really don’t wanna go home. I hope I can come back soon. I’m very proud, happy and thankful for this opportunity. By the way, a big thank you to Follow your Instinct, Panagiotis Loulourgas and Cobalt Music for making this happen and believing in me.
What are your next business plans? Are you working on new material?
Yes, I’m working so hard in the studio on new songs. There is one song with a Snoop Feature, I think people will like it.
And last but not least, we want you to wish something to all our readers!
I know the situation in Greece is not easy, I’m aware of that. I hope that everyone in Greece has the strength and the patience to overcome these hard times. The whole world has to know that even when the Greeks don’t have much, they are willing and able to share their last belongings with others.
