I would like to begin this interview by asking you about your last hit “Waterfalls”. We see that you sing with Yamira, a fresh person in the music industry. Tell us some things about this song and collaboration.
Yes, ‘Waterfalls’ is Yamira’s 1st single and so it is her 1st appearance to the public and I am glad it is with ‘Waterfalls’. I loved working with her for this project and I am happy that her 1st single has this start. A friend of mine from high school introduced me to Yamira and after a discussion with Deepside Deejays we started working together. The result is actually the positive energy we felt from day1 for this project and I am happy to be a part of it. I saw in Yamira the same desire and passion that I have, regarding music and I knew that we could do something that people would love. All of us are happy and grateful for the way ‘Waterfalls’ turned out to be (both production and video clip) and from the feedback that we receive daily from people, radios and music channels on televisions around the world. Positive energy attracts positive people and with this occasion we, the artists and the Metropolitan Records Team, would like to thank Cobalt Music for their support for ‘Waterfalls’.
In Greece your songs are a lot loved and heard everywhere. You have been in Greece and you have also worked with a Greek musicians. What is your experience from that and what’s your connection with Greece, except the big audience that you have created here?
I love Greece, and everything about Greece: people, culture, music and I am thankful for everyone I met and for everyone that supports my music. I loved working with everyone from Greece, I have friends in Greece and I am greatful for that. I am looking forward to the future and I can ‘t wait to come back there. I believe my grandfathers are coming from Greece, I feel this tight connections with Greece, I felt it all my life.
I would like you to give me some of the Greek artists you like, old or new in the Greek music industry and moreover some of these artists that you would love to be on stage with.
Oh! It is hard to choose, I love Greek music. I like Sakis Rouvas very much, I love his energy and his live performances and I would like one day to have a collaboration with him. I like Kostas Martakis and I am happy to say that we are friends also. I am glad for Claydee, he worked a lot and I am glad for him. One of my favorite female artists is Eleni ‘Crazy’ Foureira. Like I said, it is hard to choose or have preferences. I love good music, energy, performances.
“Secret Love”, the big hit that was spreaded around the globe like a storm, it was a huge success. What were your first feelings about it?
Somehow I knew Secret Love will be a hit in Greece. I can’t explain it, I just felt it. I can tell you something though, I don’t know if someone knew this: the 1st draft of ‘Secret Love’ was sung by me 100% in Greek lyrics, helped by a teacher from Romania but I was a bit bad regarding pronunciation.
After that big hit, more followed, like “Missing you”, “Mi amor”,” and others. Do you believe there is a key to success or the only thing you need is love for what you do?
In order to reach people’s hearts with your music, the key is to love what you do and to keep doing it. To put your heart into it, to have positive energy in every song, in everything you do.
When you started working as a singer, could you imagine that in a couple of years you would be in that position of success and No1 at the music charts of different countries?
Like every artist, I was dreaming to step outside my country with my music. I am a dreamer and I am ambitious. So far, I realized what I wanted and I have God to thank for the strength along these years, my team, the producers, radios, music channels on television, artists I worked with and of course the people who received my music.
Given that the nature of this job can be competitive and maybe unfair sometimes, is it difficult to face all this pressure of your job that every time -I suppose- gets stronger or is it something you can handle?
Being an artist it is not easy as may seem for some and like I said, you only need to love what you do. The competition is good for everybody, artists and public. Yes, you have to be strong and to fight harder, especially in the not so good moments of an artist’s point or career. I’ve been there myself, there are lessons to learn in everything . I am stronger and I know more than I knew yesterday. I believe that everything happens for a reason. You have to keep doing what you love.
Have you ever been afraid for what is coming next or have you ever faced great difficulties?
Yes, I was afraid of success and the fact I could not handle it because I might not be ready for it. This fear you have to transform in something positive and you have to have courage and you have to believe in yourself.
I would like you to tell me if there is a place/country that you have never been to and that you would like to do a concert there.
I’ve been to some places around the world and it is an incredible feeling. Of course I would like to be in every country that my music is listened. I can’t give a specific example, because I am more interested about the stage and for the people, not the place necessarily.
What are your plans for both the near and the far future, concerning your career?
The most important thing I wish for myself is to be healthy and for everything I’ll do, I want to keep that positive energy and I know everything will be all right.
Do you want to send a message to all you fans here in Greece and to Tralala.gr?
First of all, I would like to say Thank you Tralala.gr for your love and support and to keep up the good work.
And to all the people from Greece, once again thank you for your love and support. I miss you guys and I can’t wait to see you again. I miss that feeling and the energy that people and Greece have. I wish you all only the best. Love what you do!
